SS: Tell us the story behind your favorite wardrobe item
I can’t live without the small, tear-shaped Fashion Forms chicken cutlets that go on the inner sides of the bra. All of my clients, whether big busted, or small chested rely on them for better cleavage.
SS:What's your most memorable 'panic moment’?
When Paula Abdul was judging the finale of American Idol the year that Katharine Mcphee was competing, and she clapped her hands together so hard that her platinum rings smashed each other and were suffocating her fingers.
SS: How did you recover from it gracefully?’
I crawled under the judges’ table, squeezed the rings off her fingers with chapstick and rushed to the nearest jeweler to open them back up during the commercial break.
SS: What is your favorite era for fashion?
Anything in the 20th century before the 50s. Humans got rebellious and started experimenting with choices that weren’t exactly the more flattering for our bodies.
SS: What was your big break?
When I got a call from NBC to style Fashion Star on a Sunday and showed up to work the following morning.
SS: Whose closet would you most like to raid?
Ryan Gosling. We are about the same size, and he seems like the kind of guy that likes knowing his old clothes are ending up in good hands.
SS: Who are your favorite designers?
I will always love Balmain because they push the limits while still recognizing flattering silhouettes. Helmut Lang also knows how to suck the femininity out of an outfit while still keeping it sexy.
