Blogger of the Week: Chi City Fashion
We chatted with Jen Gambaccini from Chi City Fashion blog and found out what her must have items are and why. Jen truly believes in the power of getting dressed. Her moto is "when you look good, you feel good…and who doesn’t want to feel great?" Jen's goal is to inspire both men and women to take it to the next level when it comes to style. This is one of the main reasons she started her site. She loves Chicago and she loves fashion so she put to two together to create her blog. Find out her must have items below.
1. Leather pants/leggings. I wear leather pants just like I'd wear jeans -- with everything. They're easy, typically more comfortable than denim and surprisingly the warmest pants option (besides cashmere leggings) for the cold Chicago Winters. J Brand makes some fantastic leather pants, but keep in mind you can always go faux (same look but much less expensive!)
2. Day to night bag. Sometimes I don't always have time to change between a meeting and an event so I like to have a bag that isn't too dressy for day and not too casual for evening. I got the Proenza Schouler PS11 Tiny for Christmas and it does just that. I don't carry a ton during the day so it works for me, then I can just take the strap off and turn it into a clutch at night. Any cross body bag with a detachable strap should do the trick!
3. A cool coat. In Chicago, sometimes we don't even get around to taking our coats off come Winter so having a cool outerwear is essential. Whether it's a bright color, different textures or a fun pattern, statement outerwear is my #1 essential for surviving the cold (while still looking stylish).
4. Red lipstick. For me, using beauty and accessories is the easiest way to spruce up a look without having to try at all. If I end up in an all black outfit or it just seems like there's something missing, I just throw on a bright lip (usually red) and it changes the whole look. My current favorite is Surratt Automatique Lip Crayon in Megalomane.
5. Face oil. Ever since I switched from a daily moisturizer to face oil, my skin has completely changed (for the better). Just a few drops is all you need, plus you get a nice glow which is a plus during the cold months.
